For Keith P. Ambachtsheer, 70 is the new...
He hasn't decided what yet and is seeking help filling in the blank with an age or something else.
Mr. Ambachtsheer, director of the Rotman International Centre for Pension Management, University of Toronto, and president of KPA Advisory Services, a Toronto-based pension management consulting firm, is looking for a mantra to celebrate his 70th birthday on May 31 and inspire him on his fifth annual two-day, 200-kilometer bicycle ride he plans to undertake to raise money for cancer research.
His birthday arrives just a week before the Toronto-to-Niagara Falls (Canada) ride June 9-10. “So I am also working on a new motivational mantra for this year,” Mr. Ambachtsheer wrote in an e-mail. His goal is to raise C$25,000 (US$25,125). As of Feb. 17, he had received C$16,800 in pledges. In his four previous rides, he raised a total of C$160,000, including C$44,000 last year.
The ride's proceeds go to the C$373 million Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation to benefit the Campbell Family Institute for Cancer Research of the Toronto-based Princess Margaret Hospital, dedicated exclusively to cancer care and research.
Readers can e-mail their suggestions for completing his mantra to [email protected], putting in the subject line “70 is the new.”
