CBS Corp., New York, made $410 million in pension contributions in 2011, the company said in its fourth-quarter earnings call.
The company had expected to contribute a minimum of $130 million to its global pension plans, according to CBS' 2010 10-K filing.
The 2011 contribution announced during Wednesday's call was up substantially from 2010 and 2009, when the company made discretionary pension contributions of $167 million, and $20 million, respectively.
According to Pensions & Investments data, the company had $3.47 billion in U.S. defined benefit plan assets as of Sept. 30. The U.S. plans asset allocation was 72.5% fixed income, 22.4% equities, 4% cash, and 1.1% combined for private equity and alternatives.
