Oklahoma City Employee Retirement System hired Vontobel Asset Management and Wasatch Advisors as emerging markets equity managers, confirmed Rena Hutton, pension manager of the $595 million system.
The size of the mandates and funding source have not been determined pending presentations in March from three international equity managers — Baring Asset Management, Harding Loevner and William Blair — for a possible separate hiring. If one is selected, the size of the international and emerging markets equity mandates will be determined, as will the source of funding for both, Ms. Hutton said.
The hirings are the retirement system's first in emerging markets equity.
Wasatch Advisors will run small-cap emerging markets equities, while Vontobel will manage an all-cap strategy
Wells Capital Management was the other finalist for the mandates.
The fund's consultant, Asset Consulting Group, conducted the shortlist search.
