Mark Marinella joined F-Squared Investments as a managing director and head of investments.
He replaces Richard F. Tomney, who took on the role of managing director of F-Squared's independent adviser and wealth management business, said Zachery Kouwe, a company spokesman.
Since September 2011, Mr. Marinella has been teaching as an executive in residence at the College of Management, University of Massachusetts. Before that, he was an executive vice president and global chief investment officer of State Street Global Advisors' fixed-income and currency group; he left in December 2010.
