CalPERS posts strong 2011 private equity returns

This week, CalPERS released its 2011 private equity returns as of June 30. The one-year weighted average internal rate of return across the five strategies was 29.2%. Over the long term, its credit-related investments posted the strongest 10-year IRR at 12.8%, while its venture capital funds had an IRR of zero over the same time period. For comparison, the Nasdaq composite index had annualized returns of 3.3% during the 10-year period.
