Donald Elefson was named a portfolio manager on Axiom International Investors' emerging markets equity strategy, according to a news release by the institutional money management firm.
Mr. Elefson joins Chris Lively, the lead portfolio manager for Axiom International's emerging markets strategy.
Mr. Elefson replaces Luiz Soares, who left Axiom at the end of 2011 to join BlackRock, confirmed Shane McMahon, vice president, client service and marketing, at Axiom.
Mr. Soares joined BlackRock in January as a managing director, fundamental equities, with the emerging markets group, a new position, BlackRock spokeswoman Lauren Trengrove confirmed.
Mr. Elefson was a co-lead portfolio manager at Harding Loevner on that firm's $165 million frontier emerging markets strategy, along with Rusty Johnson. Pradipta Chakrabortty, a portfolio manager on the frontier emerging markets team, replaced Mr. Elefson as co-lead portfolio manager, confirmed spokesman Tucker Hewes.
In addition, Richard Schmidt, a portfolio manager on Harding Loevner's emerging markets strategy, was also named a portfolio manager on the frontier emerging markets strategy.
