Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System, Oklahoma City, hired Baring Asset Management to run $30 million in an international growth equity mandate, confirmed Ginger Poplin, executive director of the $690 million system.
Separately, Brandes Investment Partners, Vontobel Asset Management, Wasatch Advisors and Wells Capital Management were named Jan. 19 as finalists in the retirement system's search for its first emerging markets equity manager, to run $30 million to $40 million, Ms. Poplin said. The four firms will make presentations at the Feb. 16 meeting. A selection date hasn't been set.
RFPs for international growth equity and emerging markets equity were issued in September.
The system has a 10% allocation to international equities and 5% to emerging markets equities. The board approved adding emerging markets equity in August for diversification and to provide more global exposure.
