Jo Taylor was named new head of the London office of Teachers' Private Capital, the private equity unit of the C$107.5 billion (US$106.4 billion) Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, confirmed OTPP spokeswoman Deborah Allan.
Mr. Taylor will be a vice president of TPC and the plan's senior representative for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will lead a team responsible for sourcing, negotiating and executing investments ranging between C$100 million and C$300 million and will report to Jane Rowe, senior vice president, TPC.
Mr. Taylor replaces Ben Hewetson, who left the position in 2010.
TPC manages a global portfolio valued at about C$12 billion, investing in private equity funds in markets and sectors that it cannot efficiently access directly.
Mr. Taylor was an independent investor, portfolio manager and board member, according to the news release. Until 2008, he was managing partner, venture capital, and head of 3i Group's venture capital investment team, said Rachel Richards, 3i spokeswoman.
