The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries has changed the name and design of its official publication to provide a broader range of material to reflect wider interests of its membership.
“We wanted to create a less formal magazine look and provide a more attractive layout approach,” Steven Sullivan, editor of the newly named Plan Consultant magazine, said in an interview. “The new title reflects the breadth and depth of our membership.”
Prior to the redesign, “each issue focused on a particular topic,” Mr. Sullivan added. “Now, we want to make each issue have something for different members of the ASPPA audience.”
The magazine will remain a quarterly publication. It had been known as the ASPPA Journal since 1997. Before that, the organization's official publication was a newsletter called The Pension Actuary.
“A survey of ASPPA's growing community of diverse retirement professionals prompted the redesign of the publication from a scholarly journal to a less formal magazine format,” Robert Richter, ASPPA president, said in a news release announcing the changes.
