Paul Macro was named partner and head of defined contribution in Mercer's U.K. retirement business, confirmed spokeswoman Mags Andersen.
Mr. Macro takes over for Tony Pugh, also a partner at Mercer, who was promoted to head of the DC business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in 2011.
Based in Leeds, Mr. Macro will be responsible for overseeing Mercer's DC investment consulting business in the U.K.
Mr. Macro was a senior DC consultant at Towers Watson. Although the firm never directly replaces employees, Mr. Macro's previous duties have been expanded and divided among a trio of new appointments made earlier this month, said Towers Watson spokesman Paul Deane-Williams.
Richard Sweetman was named head of DC consulting, North region, while Rob Walker and Michael Varma were named senior consultants in Towers Watson's DC consulting business.
