Michael Haylon was named managing director, head of investment products, at Conning, confirmed Richard Sega, chief investment officer.
The position is new.
Mr. Haylon will be responsible for the global product development and management of Conning's investment products including traditional fixed income, specialty products, select equity offerings and alternative investments.
He will report to Mr. Sega.
Mr. Haylon will build out products for a joint venture with Cathay Financial Holdings in Hong Kong, which was completed this fall, Mr. Sega said in a telephone interview.
“We felt we really needed more product development and focus,” Mr. Sega said. “Michael will help enhance (already initiated) product offerings.”
Mr. Haylon was head of investment product management at General Re-New England Asset Management. Information on Mr. Haylon's replacement could not be learned by press time.
Conning had about $85 billion in insurance assets under management as of Nov. 30.
