“Mom says never to enter into private equity deals with strangers!”
So says a little girl to David Rubenstein, a well-dressed man attempting to get her and her friend to invest in his lemonade stand.
Perhaps you thought Mr. Rubenstein co-founded the private equity firm Carlyle Group? Think again.
In the firm's whimsical holiday video, Mr. Rubenstein sits with co-founders William Conway Jr. and Daniel D'Aniello and ponders, “I wonder what life would be like for all of us if we hadn't started Carlyle some 24 years ago?”
In a “what-if” scenario straight out of the movie “It's a Wonderful Life,” Mr. Rubenstein, donning a paper hat, attempts to get his lemonade stand business off the ground; Mr. Conway spends his day as a blase operator for MCI, answering questions and playing with a Rubik's Cube; and Mr. D'Aniello sells doughnuts and much more at Dunkin' Donuts.
