Ralph C. Derbyshire, senior vice president and deputy general counsel for Fidelity Investments parent FMR, and James English, treasurer of the Blue Green Alliance and Blue Green Alliance Foundation, Minneapolis, were among five new members appointed to the ERISA Advisory Council, the Department of Labor announced Friday.
Mr. Derbyshire will represent the investment management industry, while Mr. English, retired secretary-treasurer of the United Steelworkers union, will represent employee organizations.
Also appointed were Cindy Hounsell, president, Women's Institute for a Secure Retirement; David C. Kaleda, partner at law firm Alston & Bird; and Neal S. Schelberg, senior partner at law firm Proskauer Rose.
The 15-member council is responsible for advising the Labor Department's Employee Benefits Security Administration on pension fund policies and regulations.
The outgoing board members are Sewin Chan, associate professor of public policy, New York University graduate school; Theresa Atanasio, vice president and lead group counsel for Ameriprise Financial; Theda R. Haber, advisory council chair and former managing director for BlackRock; Karin S. Feldman, AFL-CIO legislative and policy specialist for employee benefits and social insurance; and Michael F. Tomasek, partner at law firm Freeborn & Peters.
