Pensions & Investments has been writing stories about the top-performing money managers for many years. The top-performing manager of Morningstar Inc.'s U.S. Growth Stock Collective Investment Trusts for the third quarter of 2011 was Washington Capital Management Inc. Its small-cap growth product returned 5.78% net of fees for the year ended Sept. 30. Recently P&I created profiles that let P&I Research Center subscribers dig a lot deeper. The profiles highlight not only returns but risk-adjusted return measures. The fund had an information ratio of 1.34 for the year. The profiles also detail holdings, which in Washington Capital's case shows the small-cap growth strategy was concentrated in technology and industrials, representing 49.93% of the portfolio.
