Chris DeGrassi, assistant vice president of Security Benefit, was named executive director of the National Tax Sheltered Accounts Association and assistant executive director of the National Association of Plan Advisors.
The position is new. The two groups are affiliates of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries that advocate for 401(k) and 403(b) plan advisers.
“As we continue to grow, we need senior leaders to help us grow the organization. He will be the chief steward of making sure it runs as it's supposed to,” Brian Graff, executive director and CEO of the ASPPA, said in a telephone interview.
ASPPA started NAPA in September to give 401(k) advisers a voice “as they become an increasing part of the policy debate,” Mr. Graff said. “The response has been tremendous from the entire adviser community.”
Mr. DeGrassi is a past president of NTSAA, which combined operations with ASPPA in January 2010.
At Security Benefit, Mr. DeGrassi was an assistant vice president handling marketing and distribution of retirement plans for teachers. No one at Security Benefit returned phone calls to discuss a replacement.
