Mark Weber was named acting chief investment officer of ING Investment Management.
He replaces Jan Straatman, who will leave ING to become CIO of Lombard Odier Investment Managers on March 1.
It has not been decided whether the firm will search for a permanent replacement. Mr. Weber, based in The Hague, will oversee the European and Asia businesses, which ING is looking to spin off separately from its U.S. business, according to ING spokesman Karl Hanuska.
“We're very confident of (Mr. Weber's) ability to lead the investment engine on the path that Jan has set us on. We will take all the time required to decide on a permanent solution,” Mr. Hanuska wrote in an e-mail.
Mr. Weber was previously global head of investment services at ING IM's U.S. business. Information about his replacement could not be learned by press time.
The position at Lombard Odier is new, according to a company news release. Spokesman Warren Giles could not be reached for additional information.
