David Ewer was named executive director of the $12 billion Montana Board of Investments, Helena, effective Dec. 1, confirmed Gary Buchanan, chairman of the board.
Mr. Ewer has been state budget director since 2005. He previously had been with the board of investments for more than 19 years, where he filled a variety of positions, including deputy director.
He replaces Carroll South, who is retiring effective Dec. 31. Mr. Ewer's start date will allow him to spend some weeks working with Mr. South, Mr. Buchanan said in a telephone interview.
