Cecil Bykerk was elected president-elect of the American Academy of Actuaries, effective Friday.
He will serve a one-year term, according to a statement from the professional actuaries association.
Mr. Bykerk succeeds David Sandberg, who became president.
Mr. Bykerk is a consulting actuary and president of CDBykerk Consulting, and specializes in health insurance issues, Andrew Simonelli, spokesman for the actuary organization, said in an interview.
The 17,000-member organization sets professional standards for U.S. actuaries and promotes public policy on actuarial-related issues.
