Harry J. Wilson on Wednesday joined the PBGC’s Advisory Committee.
Mr. Wilson, whose term runs until 2014, is chairman and CEO of MAEVA Advisors, a corporate restructuring and turnaround firm, according to its website. Before that, he was a partner with Silver Point Capital and a principal with Blackstone Group.
In 2009, he was part of the government team involved in the restructuring of General Motors and Chrysler, according to a statement from the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp.
He was the Republican nominee for New York state comptroller in 2010, losing to Thomas DiNapoli., according to Eric Sumberg, spokesman for Mr. DiNapoli.
Mr. Wilson was not available for comment.
The seven-member committee includes representatives from labor, employers and the general public. Their responsibilities, dictated by ERISA, include advising on investment policies and procedures, and trusteeships of terminated plans.
