William R. Goodell, COO of Maverick Capital, was elected chairman of the board of directors of hedge fund industry group Managed Funds Association.
Elected as board officers with Mr. Goodell were Putnam Coes, COO of Paulson & Co., as vice chairman; Howard Altman, co-CEO and co-managing principal, Rothstein Kass, as treasurer; and Scott M. Lawin, COO, Moore Capital Management, as secretary, according to a news release.
Members of the MFA's 2011-2012 executive committee are Messrs. Goodell, Altman and Lawin, as well as past MFA chairman Darcy Bradbury, managing director, D.E. Shaw Group; Sonia E. Gardner, president, managing partner and co-founder, Avenue Capital Group; Michael Gismondi, CFO, TPG-Axon Capital Management; David Harding, founder, chairman and head of research, Winton Capital Management; and James Rowen, COO, Renaissance Technologies.
Among the 2011 board of directors members who were elected, re-elected, appointed or reappointed are Peter Gilbert, chief investment officer of the $1 billion endowment of Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa.; Gumersindo Oliveros, CEO and CIO, KAUST Investment Management Co., the $10 billion endowment fund supporting King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Thuwal, Saudi Arabia; and Ashbel C. Williams, executive director and CIO of the $149.2 billion Florida State Board of Administration, Tallahassee.
