New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, had assets of $146.98 billion as of June 30, up less than 1% from three months earlier, according to a news release from New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, the sole trustee of the fund.
The overall rate of return for the three months ended June 30 was 1.8%.
“The financial markets have shown increased volatility as the economy struggles to build momentum,” Mr. DiNapoli said in the news release. “These are challenging times as we continue to grapple with sluggish job growth and concerns over European sovereign debt.”
Mr. DiNapoli said the fund, for which the news release provided no other performance details, has “a diversified investment strategy and long-term perspective to help manage these market conditions.”
Eric Sumberg, a spokesman for Mr. DiNapoli, said the fund doesn't provide detailed information on specific investments.
