Patrick Dwyer was named senior portfolio manager at Northern Trust Global Investments’ global index equity team in Hong Kong.
It is a new position, confirmed Northern Trust spokesman John O’Connell.
Mr. Dwyer was senior portfolio manager in NTGI’s international index equity group, Mr. O’Connell said in a telephone interview. Mr. O’Connell said three portfolio managers have been added to the international index team in the last 18 months, one of them filling Mr. Dwyer’s vacated position.
Northern Trust this week was given approval by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission to offer index equity portfolio management to clients in the Asia-Pacific region with portfolios managed out of Hong Kong.
Mr. O’Connell said Northern Trust is “growing that office” for asset management and asset servicing, noting that Northern Trust will be adding more staff, but further details were not available.
Northern Trust has about $49 billion in assets under management for clients in the Asia-Pacific region out of $684.1 billion in total AUM, Mr. O’Connell confirmed.
