Carter Lyons joined Two Sigma Investments earlier this month to build the firm’s institutional investor base, said sources who asked not to be identified.
Mr. Lyons’ title at Two Sigma could not be learned.
Todd Fogarty, a Two Sigma spokesman, declined to comment. Mr. Lyons did not return a call by press time.
Mr. Lyons was managing director-institutional business in BlackRock’s San Francisco-based index fund unit; he left BlackRock in May. Brian Beades, a BlackRock spokesman, did not provide information about Mr. Lyons’ replacement by press time.
Two Sigma managed $8 billion in process-driven, systematic trading strategies as of Aug. 31.
