William Harding was named head of manager research at Morningstar Investment Management.
It is a new position, Morningstar spokeswoman Alexa Auerbach said in a telephone interview.
He will be responsible for promoting best practices in investment management research and selection, according to a Morningstar news release.
Mr. Harding was director of research for Morningstar Investment Services, a managed portfolio unit of Morningstar Investment Management. Ms. Auerbach said his duties in that position will be assumed by existing employees.
Morningstar Investment Management has about $141.5 billion in investment consulting assets under advisement, $38.4 billion in retirement solutions assets under advisement and management and $3 billion in assets under management in Morningstar Managed Portfolios.
