Gemma Wright-Casparius was named a principal and senior portfolio manager in Vanguard's fixed-income group.
The position is new, spokesman John Woerth said.
She and Vanguard principal John Hollyer will be co-managers of the $36.8 billion Vanguard Inflation-Protected Securities Fund, replacing Kenneth E. Volpert, who remains principal and head of the firm's taxable bond group.
Ms. Wright-Casparius will report to Mr. Volpert.
She was deputy head of global macro research & strategy and a fixed-income portfolio manager at GIC Asset Management, a subsidiary of the Government of Singapore Investment Corp., the country's sovereign wealth fund with an estimated US$247.5 billion in assets.
