Gary Carter was named interim deputy chief investment officer of the pension management division of the $25.5 billion Connecticut Retirement Plans & Trust Funds, Hartford, confirmed Jonathan Harris, deputy state treasurer.
Mr. Carter takes over the duties of Lee Ann Palladino, who was named interim CIO in May after M. Timothy Corbett resigned to become executive vice president and CIO of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance.
Mr. Carter retired in February as director of investments for the City of Hartford (Conn.) Pension Commission, according to his resume provided by the state treasurer's office. The commission oversees the $958 million Hartford Municipal Employees' Retirement Fund.
“A search for a permanent replacement of Tim Corbett began shortly after he tendered his resignation and is ongoing,” Treasurer Denise L. Nappier, the principal fiduciary of the system, wrote in an e-mailed response to questions.
