Jane Ambachtsheer, partner and global head of Mercer LLC's responsible investment business, was honored with the Social Investment Organization's 2011 Canadian SRI Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ambachtsheer honored for her SRI work
The award recognizes commitment to the promotion of environmental, social and governance issues in the Canadian investment management industry, said Ian Bragg, SIO associate director, research, policy and institutional services.
“Jane has made a huge contribution to responsible investment in Canada and around the globe through Mercer's responsible investment consulting, as well as her pioneering work with the (United Nations) Principles for Responsible Investment and numerous other initiatives,” Eugene Ellmen, SIO executive director, said in an SIO statement.
Ms. Ambachtsheer, based in Mercer's Toronto office, was a leader in developing the U.N. Principles for Responsible Investment, introduced in 2006, the statement said.
SIO members and other partcipants at SIO's Canadian Responsible Investment Conference in June voted for Ms. Ambachtsheer from a group of four finalists selected from a field of candidates named through a public nomination process.
Toronto-based SIO is an association of the Canadian socially responsible investment industry.
