Leonard Knepp, executive director of the $26 billion Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System, Harrisburg, intends to retire at the end of the year, confirmed spokeswoman Heather Tyler.
Mr. Knepp has been executive director since December 2007 when he was named to replace Eric Henry, who left to become executive director of the $17.6 billion Texas Municipal Retirement System, Austin, and has since become chief investment officer of the $45 billion UAW Retiree Medical Benefit Trust, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Mr. Knepp had been assistant executive director and director, audits, reporting and compliance.
Ms. Tyler said the system is searching for Mr. Knepp's replacement. There is a job listing for the position posted on the website of the National Association of State Retirement Administrators at www.nasra.org/career.htm.
Efforts to reach Mr. Knepp were unsuccessful.
