John Devir was named executive vice president on PIMCO's credit analyst team, after he accepted a position as a managing director at Harvard University's $27.6 billion endowment.
Mr. Devir was set to begin this month at Harvard Management Co., where he would have been in charge of developed market stocks, the university said in May. John Longbrake, a spokesman for Harvard, said the endowment was told Mr. Devir “would no longer be joining the investment team.”
Mark Porterfield, a spokesman for Pacific Investment Management Co., confirmed Mr. Devir's hiring in an e-mail. Mr. Devir didn't return a call seeking comment.
Mr. Devir had been managing director and head of equity strategies at Barclays Capital, according to Harvard's May statement.
