Richard Teisch joined Liongate Capital Management's New York office as director of research.
The position at the $3 billion hedge fund-of-funds manager is new, part of an expansion into the U.S. market, Armel Leslie, a Liongate spokesman, confirmed by e-mail.
Mr. Teisch heads U.S. hedge fund manager research and reports to Ben Funk, global head of research.
Mr. Teisch was managing director and headed long/short equity research for alternative investment consultant Cliffwater.
Stephen L. Nesbitt, Cliffwater's CEO, said in an interview that a search is on for Mr. Teisch's replacement, but noted that in the last several months, two operations staffers were moved into positions on the long/short equity team, including Alison Ruddy, vice president, and Elina Ploskin, associate.
