Steven Butler was named head of institutional sales at fundamental value manager Horizon Kinetics.
The position is new, confirmed Jonathan Gasthalter, a spokesman.
Mr. Butler is responsible for marketing Horizon’s long-only and alternative investment strategies to institutional investors, Mr. Gasthalter said in an interview.
Mr. Butler was director of consultant relations at hedge funds-of-funds manager Corbin Capital Partners; he left earlier this month. He will be replaced by Gwendolyn Gold in August, Tracy McHale Stuart, Corbin Capital’s CEO, confirmed in an e-mail. Ms. Gold was vice president on the consultant relations team at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Information about her replacement at GSAM could not be learned.
Separately, Bridget Huger recently joined Corbin Capital’s consultant relations team as senior associate in a newly created position, Ms. McHale Stuart wrote. Ms. Huger was vice president of credit funds at Fortress Investment Group. Gordon Runte, a Fortress spokesman, did not immediately return a call seeking information about Ms. Huger’s replacement.
Horizon Kinetics managed $9.5 billion and Corbin Capital Partners managed $2.7 billion as of June 30. As of March 31, Fortress Investment Group managed $43 billion.
