Claude A. Chene was named global head of distribution at Ignis Asset Management, effective Oct. 4, confirmed spokesman Ben Robinson.
Mr. Chene was CEO of AllianceBernstein Ltd., the firm’s London-based European business.
He replaces Jonathan Polin, Ignis’ former head of sales and marketing, who left the firm in June. Mr. Chene’s role is an expansion of the one Mr. Polin performed, Mr. Robinson said.
David A. Steyn, COO at AllianceBernstein Ltd., has taken on the additional CEO responsibilities, said spokesman Mark Atkinson.
“There will be a seamless transition because David established the U.K. business back in 1999,” Mr. Atkinson said.
Reached by phone, Mr. Chene declined to comment on his reasons for leaving AllianceBernstein.
Ignis Asset Management ran £76 billion ($121 billion) as of March 31, most of it for its insurer parent, the Phoenix Group. Of the £7.5 billion run for third parties, about £5 billion is for institutional clients.
