Orange County Employees Retirement System, Santa Ana, Calif., named NEPC and R.V. Kuhns as semifinalists in the $9.4 billion system’s search for a general consultant, according to Robert Kinsler, spokesman.
Callan Associates is the system’s general investment consultant and real estate consultant. It will remain as real estate consultant. The board launched an RFP in February.
Separately, the investment committee selected Albourne, BlackRock Solutions, Hewitt EnnisKnupp and Holland Park Risk Management as semifinalists for risk product and consulting services, Mr. Kinsler wrote in an e-mail. The risk consultant position is new. Mr. Kinsler could provide no further details.
The board also kept on its watch list Cadence Capital Management, which manages $177 million in large-cap growth equity. Mr. Kinsler stated that the decision to place Cadence Capital on watch was “policy driven.” Cadence’s portfolio return is 6.59% for the first five months of the year through May 31 and its trailing one-year return is 25.93%.
