Wendy Mayall, chief investment officer of Unilever PLC's U.K. and Ireland pension funds, London, will leave the company sometime later this year to work as an investment consultant, according to an announcement by the company and other sources.
Ms. Mayall, who joined Unilever in 1995, oversaw about £5.4 billion ($8.6 billion) in pension assets. During her tenure, she led efforts by Unilever to introduce its tax-efficient cross-border pension pooling platform, called Univest, in 2006 to improve efficiency and cut costs. The idea had developed from another initiative that Ms. Mayall launched 10 years before to establish a list of preferred providers of pension services for the company.
Unilever spokesman Paul Matthews said a replacement for Ms. Mayall has not been named, and further information about Ms. Mayall's plans was not available at press time. Ms. Mayall did not return calls seeking comment.
