Eric Kirsch, a managing director and global head of insurance asset management with Goldman Sachs Asset Management, will retire effective Sept. 1, confirmed Ed Canaday, a GSAM spokesman.
Mr. Kirsch’s responsibilities will be assumed by other members of the insurance asset management leadership team, including John Melvin, managing director and global head of insurance fixed-income portfolio management, and Ellen Cooper, managing director and global head of insurance strategy.
Mr. Canaday noted that under Mr. Kirsch’s leadership over the past four years, GSAM’s insurance general account client assets under management have grown to $75 billion from $25 billion.
“We are fully committed to the insurance asset management business and have a strong leadership team in place,” Mr. Canaday wrote in an e-mail, adding that GSAM plans to continue adding resources and infrastructure to serve that client segment.
Mr. Kirsch couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Separately, Jill Lohrfink, managing director and global head of GSAM’s consultant relations, will be retiring from the firm effective July 31, Mr. Canaday confirmed.
Bob Burke will replace Ms. Lohrfink as managing director and global head of consultant relations, joining GSAM on July 5. Mr. Burke was a senior partner at Mercer’s investment consulting business. His responsibilities will be assumed by other Mercer staff, spokesman Charles Salmans said.
