Florida Prepaid College Board, Tallahassee, is searching for an executive director, who also serves as the chief investment officer, overseeing its $8.2 billion 529 plan.
Executive recruiter EFL Associates was hired to assist in the search.
Thomas J. Wallace plans to retire as executive director Dec. 31.
The board hasn’t set a deadline fore accepting applications, Susan James, director of external affairs, wrote in an e-mail. It expects to fill the position in early fall.
Qualifications for the position include significant executive-level management experience in a pension fund, government agency or other complex financial services organization.

In addition, the board is searching for a chief counsel to replace Thomas R. McSwain, who will become deputy staff director and general counsel for the Florida Senate budget committee.

Qualifications include six years of professional legal experience.
