Norm Ruggles was named CEO of San Bernardino County (Calif.) Employees’ Retirement Association, effective July 6, according to a news release from the $5.9 billion retirement system.
Executive search firm EFL Associates assisted.
It is a new position that takes the place of the combined executive director/chief investment officer; Timothy Barrett resigned from that post in October. Following Mr. Barrett’s departure, the board created separate positions of CEO and CIO.
Mr. Ruggles is vice president of Pension Trustee Advisors Inc., a consultant to public pension plans.
Neither association spokeswoman Nicole Dailey nor a Pension Trustee Advisors spokesman could be reached for comment.
