Michael LeVar was named a director, income strategies, at Ascension Health, St. Louis.
The position is new, according to a source who asked not to be identified.
Mr. LeVar comes to the health-care organization from Mercer Investment Consulting, where he served as a principal and portfolio manager. Mercer spokeswoman Stephanie Poe said Mr. LeVar’s responsibilities have been assumed by other team members.
Mr. LeVar is the latest addition to the internal team being built to oversee the management of Ascension Health’s more than $15 billion in combined pension and operating assets.
In September 2009, David E. Erickson became Ascension Health’s first chief investment officer; he was CIO of the $2.4 billion University of Wisconsin Foundation, Madison. Josh Kaplan joined Ascension Health in March 2010 as senior director, hedged strategies. He was CIO at Drexel University, Philadelphia, responsible for the university's $451 million endowment.
Trudy Hamilton, director of communications for Ascension Health, didn’t respond to e-mails and telephone calls seeking comment.
