Peter Cieszko was named senior vice president, North America, at American Century Investments.
He will join the firm on Aug. 1. The position is new.
He will lead the firm’s North America-based client business with responsibility for both institutional and intermediary sales, confirmed Michael Green, American Century’s head of global client relationships.
Mr. Cieszko was president of Fidelity Investments Institutional Services; he left at the end of January. Scott Couto, an executive vice president with Fidelity as well as head of investment product management, marketing and investor consulting services with the firm, is interim head of Fidelity Investments Institutional Services while a search for a permanent replacement continues, Fidelity spokesman Steve Austin said Wednesday.
In a telephone interview, Mr. Green said with client needs “evolving quite quickly” in recent years, American Century grabbed the opportunity to add someone with Mr. Cieszko’s experience and business management capabilities in the U.S., where the bulk of its clients are based.
