Keith Ambachtsheer is seeking to raise C$25,000 (US$ 25,764) for cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, by joining bicyclists in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer on June 11 and 12.
Mr. Ambachtsheer — founder and president of KPA Advisory Services Ltd., a Toronto-based pension management consulting firm, and director of the University of Toronto's Rotman International Centre for Pension Management — plans to bike 200 kilometers from Toronto to Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The hospital is dedicated exclusively to cancer care and research and, based on a compilation of sources, is one of the top five comprehensive cancer research centers in the world, said Steve Merker, director of business development of the C$108 million Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
Mr. Ambachtsheer served as a member of the foundation's board of directors from 2001 until September when his term ended, including the last three years as chairman. It will be his fourth year in the annual ride, raising money for the hospital's cancer research.
Anyone interested in making a donation can do so at Conquercancer.ca. As of May 26, he had raised C$20,900 in pledges toward his goal.
