The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans will present its 2011 public service award posthumously to Nell Hennessy, president and CEO of Fiduciary Counselors Inc. and a former deputy executive director and chief negotiator at the PBGC.
Ms. Hennessy died Feb. 4.
The foundation award is given annually in recognition of an individual's contribution and concern through the advocacy and advancement of employee benefit plans.
“Nell's contributions to employee benefits and plan participants were many,” Jack Simmons, International Foundation president and chairman, said in a statement. “Her commitment to the industry was truly awe-inspiring.”
The foundation plans to present the award May 23 to her husband, Frank Daspit, at its legislative update conference in Washington.
The foundation is a non-profit organization whose focus includes employee benefits and compensation research, education and networking.
