John Devir will join Harvard Management Co., which oversees Harvard University's $27.4 billion in endowment funds, as a managing director on the firm's internal investment team, focused on developed market equities, according to a news release.
The position is new, said Harvard University spokesman John Longbrake.
Mr. Devir, who joins the firm in July, will be responsible for “leading a portfolio management team focused on equity strategies in developed markets,” according to the Harvard release.
He will report to Stephen Blyth, managing director and head of internal management at the Boston-based company.
Mr. Devir was a managing director and head of equity strategies at Barclays Capital. Seth Martin, a spokesman for Barclays Capital, couldn't immediately provide information on plans to replace Mr. Devir.
Neither Mr. Blyth nor Mr. Devir could immediately be reached for comment.
