Steven Goldberg and Edwin Lin will join Citadel LLC in May as senior portfolio managers on the hedge fund manager’s global fixed-income investment team, confirmed spokeswoman Devon Spurgeon.
The positions are new, Ms. Spurgeon said in an e-mail. Both portfolio managers will report to Derek Kaufman, head of global fixed income for Citadel Asset Management.
Mr. Goldberg will focus on derivatives strategies in the rates and FX markets, and Mr. Lin will launch a Canadian rates strategy and will manage global short-term interest rate and basis swap trading for Citadel Asset Management.
Mr. Goldberg is a fixed-income portfolio manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he worked on the interest-rate options desk. Scott Silvestri, a Bank of America Merrill Lynch spokesman, did not return a call seeking information about Mr. Goldberg’s replacement.
Mr. Lin is managing director and ran short-end dollar interest rate trading at the investment banking division of Credit Suisse. Steven Vames, a Credit Suisse spokesman, did not have information about Mr. Lin’s replacement.
“Edwin and Steve are proven risk takers with valuable domain expertise who broaden the global rates capability set and add a new dimension to our expanding business,” Mr. Kaufman said in a Citadel news release. He added that since Citadel launched the global rates strategy three years ago, the firm has hired portfolio managers “in strategies that span most of the liquid rates products in the developed fixed-income markets.”
