Michelle Edkins was named global head of corporate governance and responsible investment for BlackRock, according to spokeswoman Bobbie Collins.
Ms. Edkins, who is also a managing director, succeeds Abe Friedman, who left the company. Ms. Collins said she did not have any information on his plans.
Ms. Edkins was head of corporate governance and responsible investment for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at the firm, Ms. Collins said in an e-mail. Ms. Edkins will retain those duties until a permanent replacement is named.
BlackRock manages $3.5 trillion in assets, including more $200 billion in responsible investment assets.
