Nell Hennessy, CEO of independent fiduciary firm Fiduciary Counselors and a former deputy executive director of the PBGC, has died of metastatic endometrial cancer, according to a Fiduciary Counselors news release.
She died Feb. 4. Ms. Hennessy was 61.
Ms. Hennessy had been CEO of Fiduciary Counselors since its inception in 1999 and most recently represented General Motors Co. workers and retirees during the Detroit-based company’s IPO in November.
Ms. Hennessy was a deputy executive director and chief negotiator of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. from 1993 to 1998.
“Nell was a recognized expert on the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and a tireless champion for the rights of plan participants and pension plans,” according to the news release.
Ms. Hennessy is survived by her husband, Frank Daspit; her mother, Mary Anne Hennessy; and five siblings.
