Elizabeth B.A. Miller was named chief investment officer of the $12.5 billion Kansas Public Employees Retirement System, Topeka, effective March 7, confirmed spokeswoman Kristen Basso.
Ms. Miller now serves as director of investments for the $3 billion State of Kansas Pooled Money Investment Board, which comprises funds from state agencies, the Kansas Municipal Investment Pool and the investment portfolios of the Kansas Department of Transportation and the Kansas Health Care Stabilization Fund.
She previously served as KPERS' CIO from 1991 to 1996.
Ms. Miller succeeds Robert “Vince” Smith, who left the position in September to become deputy state investment officer of the $15 billion New Mexico State Investment Council, Santa Fe. There was no interim CIO.
