James R. Doty was named chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board by the SEC, Mary Schapiro, SEC chairwoman, announced Friday.
Mr. Doty is a partner at the law firm of Baker Botts.
He succeeds Mark W. Olson, who resigned effective July 31, 2009. Daniel L. Goelzer, who was acting chairman, will continue as a PCAOB board member, said Colleen Brennan, a PCAOB spokeswoman.
Mr. Olson is co-chairman of Treliant Risk Advisors, a regulatory compliance consulting firm.
