James E. Thompson Jr. will rejoin Southeastern Asset Management as vice president and member of the research team, effective Dec. 1, confirmed spokeswoman Christina Stenson.
It is a new position.
Mr. Thompson was senior vice president, portfolio manager with MacKenzie Cundill Investment Management. Andrew Massie, MacKenzie vice president-investment management, couldn’t be reached on how Mr. Thompson will be replaced.
Mr. Thompson formerly was vice president-research at Southeastern. He left there in 2007 but served in a consulting role.
