Franklin Regional Retirement System, Greenfield, Mass., is searching for an active domestic midcap equity manager to run $5 million, confirmed Gregory McNeillie at Dahab Associates, consultant to the $80 million plan.
He said no specific equity style is specified.
The money is now run in a similar style by Rothschild Asset Management, which can rebid, Mr. McNeillie said in a telephone interview. He said there are “performance issues” with Rothschild.
He said the system still could decide to send the investment to its existing passive domestic equities manager RhumbLine Advisers if the system doesn’t find a manager through the search. It could not be learned by press time how much RhumbLine manages.
The RFP is available on Dahab’s website at http://dahab.com/searches.html. Proposals are due by 5 p.m. EST on Jan. 13. Proposals must be sent to Mr. Steven Roth, Director of Manager Research, Dahab Associates Inc., 423 South Country Road, Bay Shore, New York 11706.
A manager selection is expected before April, he said.
Dale Kowacki, executive director, directed inquiries to Mr. McNeillie.
A Rothschild spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment.
