Terrence M. Deneen, the PBGC’s chief insurance program officer, will retire in mid-January, the agency announced Monday.
Mr. Deneen was appointed to lead the insurance program department at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. in 2005. The department handles plan compliance with federal pension law and terminations of fully funded pension plans.
“Terry Deneen has provided outstanding leadership,” PBGC Director Joshua Gotbaum said in the release. “We will miss his wise counsel and his extraordinary breadth of experience with both bankruptcy and pensions.”
Mr. Gotbaum said in the release that the PBGC would begin a national search for his replacement.
